Frequently Asked Questions

A pop-up clinic is a mobile medical service designed to bring care directly to communities in need. Over the course of three days, hundreds of volunteers from across the United States come together to set up and break down fully functioning clinics. These include a dental clinic with 8–20 dental stations, a vision clinic with 2–8 vision lanes, and a medical clinic with 2–10 medical bays.

Professional dental, vision, and medical services are provided by licensed clinical professionals who generously volunteer their time and expertise to serve the community.

Most clinics offer dental, medical, and vision services. Depending on the needs and priorities of the local community, additional services may be available, such as vaccinations, laboratory testing, Pap smears, mammograms, sports physicals, HIV testing, and more.

Please note that not all services are guaranteed at every clinic. Services offered are based on the availability of licensed professionals who volunteer their time, skills, and expertise.

Pop-up clinics work closely with local communities to address healthcare needs that are often not fully covered by standard insurance plans.

Low-income families and seniors frequently face significant out-of-pocket costs, such as $89 or more for eyeglasses, $250–$750 for a tooth extraction, and over $100 for lab testing. Because of these expenses, many individuals go without the care they need.

Pop-up clinics help alleviate this burden by providing all services completely free of charge. Patients seek care for medical needs, vision exams and glasses, as well as dental services such as extractions and cleanings. In addition, we assist patients with coordinating follow-up care after the clinic.

Pop-up clinics are run entirely by volunteers, and their success depends on the dedication of those who give their time and talents. Volunteers come from near and far, ranging from community members assisting with general support duties to medical students, nurses, doctors, and dentists providing clinical care.

Volunteers often find pop-up clinics to be fulfilling and rewarding, as well as a meaningful opportunity to give back and help others.

We are always seeking monetary donations, which help offset the costs of clinic locations, volunteer lodging, travel, food, labor, and other expenses such as biohazard disposal, lab work, and portable restrooms.

In-kind donations are also welcome. We often accept food and water, hygiene products for patients, tables and chairs used throughout the clinic, and more. Every contribution makes a difference.

We are also always in need of volunteers. The success of our clinics depends entirely on volunteer support. All doctors, dentists, optometrists, nurses, hygienists, phlebotomists, and general support staff generously donate their time and skills to serve the community.

If you are interested in helping in any of these three ways, please do not hesitate to contact us. We would love to hear from you!
